Hmm, the last part of the description sounds familiar. I read somewhere that under the same weather conditions, the people of Japan refer to that as a 'Kitsune's wedding' :o

I wouldn't be surprised. It seems to be a pretty common superstition to associate monsters with rain from a sunny sky, in various cultures. I've seen roughly a half dozen, but I've never studied Japanese mythology so I didn't know about the Kitsune.

I added it because a) I needed to take up more space and b) pretty much every mention anywhere I could find of this monster included it.
